How do you give it a fresh and new look while respecting the tradition and identity of a historic institution?

This was the exciting challenge presented by Bologna FC, one of the most successful clubs in the history of Italian football, which maintains a strong connection with the passionate people and picturesque city of Bologna.

That’s where we start: the city, the history, the people, the passion, the culture; We studied Bologna and everything it represents to create a new graphic system that was authentic and innovative at the same time.

Our Inspiration

Hence, the arches of the porticos that run through the city become a key element in the designs of social media graphics, and also the basis of a new fresh font we developed: BOLO. The theme of futuristic nostalgia becomes the leitmotiv of a modern graphic system made of: 

1. Halftone cuts, made of iconic monuments of the city 

2. A sticker collection, representing in a hypervisual way the club’s iconography


3. Graffiti signs, to add dynamism and strengthen the connection with the street-culture of the city
(street-art, hip-hop, the sense of street community)

Starting from this, we revamped all the communication of the club:

From a Social Media point of view, through a new series of graphics for all kinds of purposes: matchday, announcements, institutional communication on different channels, hype graphics etc.

From a Marketing perspective, we adapted all the materials to this new identity, creating a wide series of digital and physical applications: stadium LEDs, Boards and Screens, press conference branding, passes, presentations, sponsor banners etc.

An extensive transformation of the Club that actually starts from history, culture and tradition. When past, present and future meet. 

We’re grateful to Bologna for giving us the opportunity to develop such a beautiful identity and help them to move to higher directions.
